Through the Moving Up programme we aim to enhance self-esteem, emotional resilience, wellbeing and confidence. The programme will include social development and play support covering issues that may affect children and their parents during transition, ensuring school readiness, offering new motivational techniques and ways to cope with change to ensure children and young people reach positive milestones.

There are two core elements to the Moving Up Programme: Big Step and Seven-Up. Big Step supports the transition from Nursery to Primary School. The Seven-Up programme is delivered to P7 children moving from Primary to Post Primary School.

How we do it
We aim to improve the transition experience for both children and parents/carers through a series of workshops. We will include topics such as:
- Time Management
- Travelling To School
- Internet Safety
- Bag Prep
- School Maps
- Healthy Eating
- Timetables
- Uniforms
- Making Friends
and more...

There will be parent sessions, class based sessions, mindfulness sessions and referrals to other services.

A little helping hand for parents and children moving up to a new school.

Moving Up is part of the Belfast South Early Intervention Project. The project will contribute to both children and young people and their families being better supported. Each child and young person will be supported to get them the best start in life and allow them to develop from a health, education and personal perspective in order to reach their full potential. Parents will be supported in their parenting role.
